The process

01

Initial Design Consult

I meet clients in their homes to discuss their design project and talk to them about the design process and answer their questions. I am not providing design advice at this meeting, but rather learning about your needs so that I can make an appropriate proposal. At this meeting I need to learn specifically what you want to accomplish, what your budget is, what your design aesthetic is and how you want your space to work and feel.

04

Presentation of Ideas and Feedback

Once I am happy with the design I will schedule a meeting to present my full set of ideas to you. This includes rug and fabric samples, scaled layout drawings, finish samples, representations of furniture pieces, window treatment plans, paint colors etc..

07

Delivery and Installation

Once all your items have arrived we will schedule your installation. Then you get to enjoy your space for years to come.

02

Letter of Agreement with project scope and budget outlines

Based on our initial phone conversation and design consultation i will make a proposal representing what you would like me to accomplish in your space and a rough budget sketch that will be needed to meet those goals. At this time i will assign either a flat design fee or take the project on an hourly basis. once i receive the design fee or required retainer with a signed letter of Agreement I will begin work on your project

05

1 Round of Revisions

Once the clients has had time to understand the design elements and think about them we have a final meeting where i receive your feedback regarding any changes you may require.

03

Ideation Phase

During this time I am working on developing a floor plan and selecting the finishes, rugs, textiles and furnishing that will be your design. I usually do at least 1 "gut check" meeting prior to your design presentation. In this meeting I share key elements that are critical to the design and make sure we are on the same page with design direction. This may be a Hero fabric or a special rug that is a central design choice in which everything else relates.

06

Final Selections and Product Proposal

I make any required revisions and circle back with the alternative options. We make our final decisions about your pieces. I am then able to provide you with a proposal with the approved items. We will take a deposit- usually 75%. Once the deposit is received I will begin placing your orders.

  • How much will my project cost, and how do you determine your fees?
Clients often want clarity on budgeting and the breakdown of design fees, including what’s included in the scope of services.
  • How long will the design and implementation process take?
Timeline expectations are a top concern, especially for homeowners eager to complete their projects by specific deadlines.
  • How involved will I need to be in the decision-making process?
Clients often wonder whether they’ll be hands-on throughout the project or if the designer will handle most decisions independently. Clients need to be available to give feedback and make decisions. When clients get overly involved the design process generally slows down and costs more.
  • Can you work within my existing budget, or help me prioritize where to spend and save?
Budgeting is always a concern, and clients may ask for guidance on how to allocate resources effectively. I work with clients to help them understand the costs associated with properly designing a space. Often my clients understand what things cost, however they fail to appreciate how the design layers add up when fully decorating a space. For example they think about the actual cost of a rug and furniture - but then realize if they want the room of their dreams they need to budget for wallpaper, built-ins, lighting and pillows. We decide what layers are most important to the client and usually will select a specific area to spend more of the budget and other areas to keep it simple. We can also select strategic layers that can be delayed too.
  • How do you ensure the design reflects my personality and lifestyle?
Clients want reassurance that their space will feel personal and cater to their functional and aesthetic needs. I spend time upfront talking to my clients and getting a sense of who they are, how they live and what their personal aesthetic is. We often look at inspiration pictures together and make sure we correctly identify the general look that is desired. Additionally when working with an interior designer we source many custom pieces that can specifically reflect the needs of a client or space and elevate and personalize your room so it look unique.
